1. WHAT IS VIVO ?  Vivo Active

The VivoActive Player is a free plugin for Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers. It enables your browser to view streaming movies with full sound. You no longer have to wait an hour for a download to finish before viewing a three minute movie! VivoActive movies start playing within seconds and play in real-time as you are downloading them.
Two different speed formats are usually provided for you to choose from: 28.8k and 56k. The 28.8k formatted movies are for visitors using 14.4k modems up to 33.6k modems, who want little or no pauses during playback whilst downloading. Due to the limited amount of data that can be transmitted through a 28.8k connection, the frame rate is not going to be as good as for movies formatted for a higher speed. The 56k clips are provided for those who have higher speed connections to the internet. These clips have better quality sound and frame rate. Many people on slower connections also choose the 56k rate for the higher quality - some don't mind the slightly longer pauses in order to get that improved quality. You are recommended to try both formats and settle for the one that suits you.
Once clips are downloaded, you can save them to your hard disk for later full-speed playback.

2. HOW TO GET STARTED...  Get Vivo Free Player

Firstly, you need to download the VivoActive Player. Once you have the file on your hard disk, simply click on its icon to install it. The installation program will guide you through the process. VivoActive also provide a help page which you can visit first.
Secondly, restart your browser and come back to this page or any other page on my site which shows the VIVOACTIVE logo, and simply click on the film format you wish to view/download. Very often, another page will then be displayed where the actual Vivo Active clip will start playing.
Finally, if you have the right version of the VivoActive player, you will be able to "right click" on the downloaded movie and use "Save As" or equivalent, to save a copy for later playback from your own hard disk.

Many of the VivoActive movies on this site last about ten seconds. This is because I am still using my evaluation version of the VivoActive Producer - this means that a VivoActive "watermark" appears (and is heard) after that time. This will remain the case, until I am happy about using the software, and that enough feedback is given by visitors -- then I shall make the $600 purchase :-)
